Orlandi Trailer

Ball Mount

Selecting The Right Mount

Correct Ball Mount

CORRECT

Level

Sometimes a trailer’s tongue is higher or lower than the ball mount on the vehicle, and a ball mount with a “rise” or a “drop” is required to level the trailer.

INCORRECT

Not Level

For safe, comfortable towing, the trailer should always be set up to tow on a level plane.

Selecting The Right Mount

Ball Mount Measurements

LENGTH

Distance from the center of the ball hole to the center of the pin hole

DROP

Distance from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform

RISE

Distance from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform

Selecting The Right Mount

THE DIFFERENCE IN THE TWO MEASUREMENTS IS THE AMOUNT OF “RISE” OR “DROP” REQUIRED.

Measuring For the Proper Height

1 – Measure from the ground to the top of the hitch.

2 – Measure from the ground to the (inside) top of the trailercoupler, when level.

3 – Subtract the height of the hitch ball (most are 2½” – 3″ high) from coupler measurement.

4 – An 8″ drop is needed to make the trailer level.
